I loved the range of colors within this moment

there are fundamental differences between the two states

Yet I remain intrigued by its extreme contrasts of light and shadow

this painting was less about the literal subject and more about the really cool pattern of light / dark geometric shapes within it

and I really got lucky when I was able to return later in the year during a gorgeous fall afternoon and get these peak colors
