It appears that the entire instrument was originally finished in pink lacquer, but the lacquer has peeled off from the body of the instrument except for the emblem and the base of the octave keys, exposing the underlying nickel plating. There are small scratches, polishing marks, roughness in the surface plating, and two small dimple like dents, but this does not affect playing.
