Quite unusually for the period, it's set with a cabochon garnet, blood red, in a platinum halo bezel and contrasting yellow gold band. Garnets were the stone of choice 100 years earlier during the Georgian Regency period, but by the 1920s the advent of synthetic rubies and a penchant for brighter, bolder hues had the garnet sidelined somewhat making this a rare ring indeed.
