Closed, it appears as a relatively unassuming gold pendant, albeit with attractive engraved surfaces, but two hinges allow the pieces to fold out into its true form: an instantly recognisable masonic Square and Compass. Much of the masonic jewellery we see (this was probably intended to be worn as a fob on a watch chain) has the ability to change its form, to conceal the true symbolism. In this
